PE ”Belgrade Fortress” has organized visiting and sightseeing the Belgrade Fortress cultural heritage for thirty students from several European countries upon the request of Electrical Engineering Students European Association. The group of students has learned about history of the Fortress and seen its sights by using audio guides. They have also visited the Big Gunpowder Magazine and the permanent exhibition of Roman stone monuments, as well as the exhibition at the Nebojša Tower at Lower Town of the Belgrade Fortress.
PE”Belgrade Fortress” introduced audio guides as part of its increasingly better tourist offer in March 2011. Audio guides give a chance to visitors to explore cultural contents of the Belgrade Fortress and the city of Belgrade individually by choosing one of the six offered languages.
Audio guides can be rented for 210 dinars for group visits, and 300 dinars for individual visits at the Gallery/Souvenir shop at the Inner Stambol Gate and at the Nebojša Tower as well. Along with audio guides, visitors get a map of the Belgrade Fortress with marked sights and their locations.
The guide contains 39 marked points, while the audio story lasts for 90 minutes. This type of sightseeing has been popular for some time worldwide, mostly because it provides information about monuments, parks or museums on the spot.
Belgrade Fortress is the place where audio guides have been introduced for the first time in Serbia, hoping it will become a standard part of the cultural offer of the city of Belgrade. Only in the last year, 1.4 million people visited cultural, tourist and sport events at the Belgrade Fortress, while according to the estimates, more than 2 million people visit the Fortress annually.
