BELGRADE – Smile has returned to Belgrade on Friday. More precisely, popular singer and song writer from Vojvodina, Djordje Balasevic, has brought it, by holding a concert in front of about 30,000 fans on Belgrade Fortress, reported Novosti.
After 4 decades of successful career, during which he held 150 concerts in Sava Centar, the concert at Fortress was his biggest and the first big concert under an open sky in Serbian capital.

Balasevic came to the concert with “Panonska Mornarica” (Pannonian Navy) band, which played the song “Osmeh se vratio u grad” (The smile returned to the city) as start of the concert. “So, where have you been all these years. For some I know, but others I haven’t seen for a long time. I was here for a rehearsal yesterday, so I read press a bit. They wonder how many songs will I sing? I am telling them: It does not matter how many songs I will sing, but how many songs you will sing tonight. We had some big concerts here in recent days. I read that the stars came with 17 trucks of equipment, and here we are, 16 of us with one van. The most important thing is that you all have a good time. So, all those interested in how many songs I will sing, are probably in serious identity crisis if they miss me as a singer,” said Balasevic, greeted with loud shouts of enthusiastic audience.
Given the fact that he is known as a good speaker and that he entertains his audience with stories on his concerts, Balasevic has this time also offered words of wisdom with a good song. “I was not present on the scene for a long time, all those things you read about me in the media, some sentences somehow found their way in the media. Know that it does not matter how the time has left its mark on you, but it matters how you left your mark on it,” said Djordje.
The rain that started falling about 20 minutes after the concert began, did not stop the most loyal fans of Balasevic’s music to enjoy in his greatest hits like “Devojka sa cardas nogama”(The girl with czardas feet) , “D-Mol” (D-Minor), “Zivot je more”(Life is sea) and other. For “Some new kids” (Neki novi klinci) there were songs like “Berbe 59″ (Harvest 59) and “Ljubav ne pobedjuje”(Love does not win). Colorful raincoats and umbrellas have made the space under the walls of the ancient fortress cheerful despite the bad weather, and those under them did not allow rain to spoil the joyful moment they have waited for years. Carried by the music waves of the Pannonian Sailor, Belgrade audience entered the new day singing on the confluence of the Sava into the Danube.

The band came to Serbia as part of its world tour “99 revolutions”, organized as support to their trilogy “Uno”, “Dos”, “Tre”, released at the end of the last year. When, just before 22 h was heard Green Day cover of the Ramons song “Blitzkrieg Bop”, and pink rabbit got on the stage, the audience stirred.
Then on the stage stepped the trio: Billie Joe Armstrong (vocals and guitar), Mike Dimt (bassist and backing vocals) and Tré Cool (drums), backed with few more musicians for the tour, and played the “99 revolutions”.
They are used to playing in front of much bigger audience (it is expected that at the “Emirates” stadium in London will be 70,000 people, and on the “Leading end Reads Festival” as many as 80,000) but as true professionals, they played as 100,000 souls were listening to them.
“Belgradeeeeeeeee! Let’s go crazy! We love you! Do you know your enemies Belgrade?,” Armstrong announced hit “Know your enemy”, during which he played guitar behind his back and on one leg.
