The 7th Museums Night was held on 15th of May 2010 in over 150 spots in 48 cities all around Serbia. Just like in the previous years, programmes and events held on Belgrade Fortress have drawn big attention of the Belgrade visitors.
Fans of detective stories had the opportunity to try their luck in `Treasure Hunting` and the most successful competitors got valuable prizes.
All interested visitors had an opportunity to have a guided tour of the Sahat Tower and see the old clock mechanism and enjoy the view from one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the city. Military Bunker, Souvenir Shop and Gallery at the Inner Stambol Gate were open for the visitors of the Museums Night. Stojan Djurić`s monotypes from the cycle `Love, Woman, Touch` created in the last two years, were exhibited at the Belgrade Fortress Gallery. Nature History Museum’s Gallery hosted the exhibition `Sky Hunters` by ornithologist Marko Raković and Daliborka Stanković where visitors could learn about the life of the vultures and their importance to nature.
Wine and honey exhibition by family Zivković from Sremski Karlovci in the Military Museum`s old jail was the opportunity to taste honey and wine and learn about history of beekeeping with the exhibits that are nowadays rarely seen.
Family Trajković`s rich art collection was exhibited at the `Cvijeta Zuzorić` Pavilion. By its significance, the collection outgrows the frame of the private collection. Many people tend to refer to it as a contemporary equivalent of the collection of Beljanski family from Novi Sad due to its scope and emphasis on the national artwork. Presenting it to the public, the importance of this project is affirmed. Also, visitors could see the documents about activities of the `Cvijeta Zuzorić` Pavilion’s Friends of Art Society which was founded at the initiative of Branislav Nušić. They could also see the photographs of the Pavilion at different stages of construction, as well as the photographs of the prominent people from the public and cultural life of that time, of the artists and their friends, too.
The exhibition dedicated to one of the oldest institutions in Serbia – Military Academy, was organized at the Gallery of the Military Museum. The sabres of Živojin Mišić and Franjo Zaha were displayed there, together with the sabres that are nowadays awarded to graduate cadets.
Visitors of the Museum Night could feel the charm of the Officers’ Dances from the end of 19th century by dancing to the sounds of waltz on the plateau in front of the Museum and enjoying the concert of the Ministry of Defence’s Art Ensemble `Stanislav Binički`.
Besides the Museum’s permanent exhibition, which tells the story about 14-century-old Serbian military history, at this year’s Museums Night for the first time visitors could see the ENIGMA – encoding machine that was used in the Balkans.
For the Museums Night, the Observatory presented all the events significant enough to be issued on commemorative postage stamps. The lunar module i.e. capsule in which astronauts abide during a trip to the Moon, has drawn special attention of the visitors.
